bored...

JOB, I'm not saying they suck but are those your top picks of the year? I’ve done nothing more than glance at the Oscar nominees but aren’t all those on this list? Imo, half of the movies that are nominated every year don’t deserve it. I’d give you my top 5 (or 6) but I’m tired…maybe tomorrow.

I just got done watching He Was A Quiet Man. I would personally like to recommend it to anyone that is up for a brain fuck. I give it a 6.5 (possibly a 7) but it has many redeeming qualities. I give this movie props because you can never guess what will unfold. I’m a big fan of Christian Slater and this is probably the best performance I’ve seen of his. Elisha Cuthbert did a pretty good job as well.

Side note – Other notable Slater films nobody should live their life without seeing: Interview with the Vampire and True Romance. Both 10's.

Now I am going to fall asleep to Cube 2. I’m a sucker for falling to sleep to horror movies. Kind of morbid, I know. If you haven’t seen Cube, it’s basically a mix between Saw and Event Horizon (watch this if you haven’t…it’s amazing.) It’s free On Demand until tomorrow along with Cube Zero (Cube 3). Gotta love On Demand. Other than that, Comcast sucks.

I can't believe there was all that Christian Slater talk without mention of Pump Up the Volume

Interview With A Vampire just arrived via my Blockbuster Total Access account. Have to watch it for pacing research for a script I'm writing. Saw it in the theater back in '94, but haven't seen it since.

And yes, those are my top movies from '07. I'm guessing that Sweeney Todd is going to end up slotting in there somewhere and I've watched the first hour of Stardust (another B'buster mail arrival) and it looks to be a solid winner as well.

This happens to be one of those years where the nominees make sense. I didn't expect Michael Clayton to get the nod, but it did.

Stardust fucking rocks!! Everyone needs to see it! Make sure you finish it because it surprisingly keeps getting better and better.

I'm sorry, but discussion about Christian Slater movies begins and ends with two films: Gleaming the Cube (this was a culmination of the skateboarding heyday of the late eighties) and The Legend of Billie Jean (I used to think Helen Slater and Christian Slater were related...they even play brother and sister in this flick. They aren't...which raises the possibility that they boned)
