The new job is going great so far, I'm on my third day, and although I'm still in training, I feel like I've made an impression on everyone. A positive impression, that is. Here are 4 realizations I've made this week:
1) I know it sounds mundane to those of you who've been away from AIU for over a year now, but I can't tell you how refreshing it is to actually talk to someone on the phone that wants to talk to you! I know it seems trivial to most, but its so incredibly refreshing to not feel like I have to push something on someone.
2) I told my dad about my job and didn't lie or sugarcoat anything!
3) No micromanaging!!! As it turns out, real companies don't do that, despite what my former bosses continually told me ("you think its bad here?? you should see what its like at other companies!). I was on the phone today with my friend whom I'm bringing in for an interview tomorrow, and I was being careful to make it seem like a business call and not a personal call...and the girl next to me just laughed and told me not to worry about it. My business is my business. What a novel concept!
4) I texted the Angry White Cracker today, "its not like it matters to me, but its all white people in my office...warrants mentioning." So all white people, no minorities ('cept for me!). And you know what? I miss the brothas! Where's T White when you need him!?!?!?
