Been Around The World And I, I, I -- by J.O.B.

1) I'm still alive - that reminds me of one of my favorite "countdowns" in movie history. The Michelle Pfeifer rant as Catwoman in the second Batman movie is ridiculous. She's all yang-hooo'd and such, crackin' her whip around - "Four, five, still alive!!! Six, seven, all good girls ... go to heaven." Classic.

2) If someone can locate either the chick who does the voice or the moron that came up with the banner ad for the iPod Nano giveaway for me, I'll give you everything in my bank account. I can't get through a browsing of celebrity idiocy photos at my favorite celeb blog without this bishes voice vamping about how "I've been selected." Can I select to shoot you in the head?

3) Hope springs eternal - it's baseball season again. I know it's Ted Lilly's first time around the National League, so expecting him to fare well is the norm, but he looked good last night. The White Sox play in such a competitive division. Any 2 of the 4 top teams in that division could go to the playoffs. Dice-K rocks 10 to sleep while giving up only 1 ER. And the Twins come to town with temps still in the 30's. Oh yeah!!!

4) Like any j.o.b., the new location has it's ups and downs. On the positive side, I get paid weekly, insurance is about 1/2 what it was before, I get credit when people order through customer service or online, I'm basically an order taker, and the girl to guy ratio is about 10:1. On the bad side, I can get to this page online but can't comment or even log in. I also can't reach any other blogs or personal e-mail from work. However, all the news sites, ESPN, and my favorite car site work fine. Also, it's shirt and tie with no casual Friday, and even though it's 10:1 girl-guy ratio, it's also about 10:1 good looking girl-girl ratio. Whatever, it's all temporary.

Bonus goals for being AWOL:
5) Speaking of temporary: Have a meeting in Michigan on Saturday with regards to the music thing. Mrs. J.O.B. has also gotten an invite, which means serious business discussion. To me, all that means is that we are full speed ahead.

6) Anybody free Sunday afternoon and want to see the Sox beat the Twins? I've got two tickets that I bought from someone before realizing it was Easter Sunday. One of you local heathens should go. Two tickets and a Stadium Club pass for $40 (what I paid for them.) Otherwise, I have to go and exchange them for another game at the ticket window.

7) Gilbert Arenas is out for the season. If the Bulls weren't so on it right now, I'd be done with basketball. Yes, Phoenix is fun to watch and seeing who is going to come out of the West is going to be interesting, but if the Bulls were worse, I'd be in full baseball mode.

8) Guilty indulgence admittance: I know they are nearly an incarnation completely of MTV, MySpace and such, but I've been listening to a lot of Fall Out Boy and Panic! At The Disco type stuff lately. Not necessarily because I think the quality of what's coming out is revolutionary or the inspiring, but because they're essentially on the pop end of rock, hence - catchy and melodious enough for repeated listening. Don't get me wrong, there's talent there, but this isn't ground-breaking music. Speaking of which, there's a lot of good stuff coming out this year.

Was that last one written to intentionally make me and Skurny's heads explode?

Ok, I tried (and tried and tried) to get into Fallout Boy...I just can't do it. You're right, some stuff is catchy. For me, its just disposable pop...not too far off from any other crap you hear on top 40 radio. What kills me is that these weiners are bitching about...what exactly? Their rich, suburban upbringings? (Fallout Boy is from...Winnetka I think? Richest 'burb in the city...or close to it)

You are right about great stuff coming out this year. Modest Mouse just released their new one, its phenomenal. One of the best albums I've heard in a long, long time. And I never thought I'd see the day that Modest Mouse would have the number one album in America.

...and of course, as expected, Bloc Party's new album has in fact grown on me. I knew it would eventually.

...sadly, I didn't really latch onto the Shins' new one, but maybe I'll give it another few listens.

...Smashing Pumpkins anyone? New album comes out this summer. My former fav band...sadly, no Lollapalooza though

My exact words (out loud, in my office) were, "Oh...My...God. It...can't...be."

Fallout Boy is awful and I think BB even made a joke about me liking them a few weeks ago and it cracked me up.

I've only heard the first single from the Modest Mouse album but will probably pick it up this weekend...is it more poppy and upbeat or dark and melodic, BB? I'm voting for dark.

I haven't heard much about the Shins new album, other than a few of my friends don't like it...

I'm PUMPED for the new Smashing Pumpkins album...I still listen to Siamese Dream regularly. Definately one of the best rock albums of the 1990s.

Other than that, I've been listening to Wolfmother and The Raconteurs lately. I still need to pick up Bloc Party's first album, since I wasn't too impressed with the songs I listened to on their last one...

That's my point. It's complete throwaway crap. However, right now one of my vehicles is limited to FM radio and a tape deck. FOB and their ancilliary acts are all over the place. I think I heard them on Lite FM yesterday.

I'm not saying they're good - it's just what's been on most recently.

The new Shins album is a little darker than previous efforts, but I like it.
