Ramblings And Rumblings -- by J.O.B.

1) Did the radio gig on Tuesday and it was a blast. Great way to spend 3 hours on a Tuesday afternoon. The joy of Chicago Public Radio is no commercials, and lots of freedom. Since the station is all about web interaction and user contribution, I was actually able to go online and see the user response over the last couple of days and it's very positive. There are a couple of options for spots there, so it's hopefully just a matter of picking one.

2) Color me completely wrong. I was sure that when Soriano went down with his quad injury in August, that the season for the Cubs was effectively over. Somehow, the Brewers and Cardinals decided to play like they missed Soriano also and with a win tonight, the Cubs regain sole possession of first place. The '06 Cardinals have set the precedent that it is nearly impossible to handicap the playoffs, so to say the Cubs might get in, but won't do well would be rather naive. I'd like to believe the Cardinals are done, now needing to finish 12-6 just to get to .500 and probably needing to go 14-4 to truly compete. I'd actually favor the Cubs to win the whole deal, as the pitching is starting to get in order again.

3) Promoted English as the new hot spot a couple months ago and now would like to promote another - Brody's on Clark. It has a soft opening next Friday and then a full grand opening in about 3 weeks. If you know where the Twisted Spoke on Clark and Roscoe was, Brody's has taken over for it. My buddy is the GM, all female bar staff, and a claimed title as Chicago's Ultimate Dive Bar. Works for me - anybody down to check it out?

4) Big weekend coming up - The NL Central is still a mess, Michigan vs. Notre Dame in an out of place battle of 0-2 teams with frosh starting QB's, and week 2 of the NFL season. Wherever I am, it won't be far from a television.
